Tracing Rhythm

Tracing Rhythm

Drawing as a way of listening and translating movement.

In Buenos Aires, I developed a series of live drawing performances within renowned tango milongas, including Salón Canning (Parakultural), El Beso (La Rosa) and Club Pedro Echagüe (Gente Amiga).

Using ink and paper, I drew in real time as dancers moved across the floor. The projected drawings became a visual interpretation of rhythms, trajectories and energies unfolding within the space.

Situated between drawing, performance and observation, this practice seeks less to depict bodies than to capture the dynamics of movement, the musicality of gesture and the collective atmosphere emerging between dancers, music and place.
